I’m Makayla Jones, and Rooms We Love is where I write about interiors the way I actually experience them: room by room, in the light of a real afternoon, with my hands on the fabric.
I’m a stylist, which mostly means I would rather move the sofa a seventh time than settle for the version that is almost right. I care about the small, tactile things that decide whether a room feels like anywhere or like yours: the weight of a linen curtain, the chalky finish of a matte wall, the exact green I painted twice before it was correct. I notice where the oak grain runs and how a lamp changes a corner at five in the afternoon.
So this site is a journal of rooms I have actually stood in, rearranged, and grown fond of. I write about living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, small spaces, color and paint, and the finishing details that pull a room together. I tell you where the money is worth spending again and where it absolutely is not.
Everything here is written by a real person with real opinions. No ghost-written filler, no pretending a room is finished when it is still bothering me. If a piece is honest and makes your own rooms a little more considered, it is doing its job.
